Charice denies losing P100-M deal after coming out
MANILA, Philippines -- Singer Charice clarified reports that she lost P100 million in contracts after she went on national TV and admitted that she is a lesbian.
"Shoot! I wish I had P100 million," Charice told host-actress Kris Aquino who visited the singer in Laguna for her morning talk show "KrisTV."
Charice admitted in Thursday's episode that she already lost some contracts even before she came out on TV.
"Kasi nagbago ako ng management and that's another issue," explained Charice, who stressed that this had nothing to do with her emotional interview on "The Buzz" where she confessed that she's a lesbian.
As if to prove that her coming out has not affected her career, Charice announced that she is scheduled to fly to the United States later this month to fulfill her commitments.
"Hindi naman po ako masyadong matagal (doon) kasi sa September babalik po ako dito kasi ila-launch ko ang album ko," she said.
It has been reported earlier that Charice is scheduled to record for the soundtrack of an upcoming animated movie.
But in her interview with Aquino, Charice revealed that she is also set to sing the American national anthem in a major event in August that will be televised.
Although Charice didn't reveal the event, she showed Aquino a text message on her phone about it.
"Bongga, Ipagdasal natin 'yan at lahat kami ay mapa-proud sa iyo. I'm not gonna say anything but it celebrates equality," Aquino said.
On August 26, the US celebrates Women's Equality Day, commemorating the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, granting women the right to vote.
Charice on former girlfriend
Aquino also asked Charice about rumors that she previously got married in the United States to her ex-girlfriend and manager Courtney Blooding.
Blooding drew flak last year when she questioned why Filipinos have embraced "American Idol" runner-up Jessica Sanchez, saying she doubts that Sanchez should be "part of Filipino pride."
Charice stressed that she never married Blooding, admitting that they are no longer in good terms and have stopped communicating.
"Wala pong galit," she immediately clarified. "Nandoon lang siguro 'yung napi-feel ko sa kanya na medyo awkward pero wala po yung galit."
Charice refused to answer if she was the one who initiated the breakup, reiterating that she has nothing against her ex.
Charice is currently in a relationship with fellow singer Alyssa Quijano, who is a member of the girl group and "The X Factor Philippines" finalists AKA Jam.
