James Yap, son Bimby reunite
MANILA, Philippines -- James Yap and his son, James "Bimby" Yap, Jr., have finally reunited following a resolved legal dispute between the professional basketball player and his ex-wife, host-actress Kris Aquino.
Yap, in a post on his Instagram page on Tuesday, shared his "bonding" moment with his six-year-old son. The photo is captioned: "Joyride bonding w/ my boy Priceless! #qualitytime #fathersonbonding #happyfather"
The basketball player's reunion with his only child came after a court decision denying Aquino's petition of a permanent protection order (PPO) against Yap on behalf of their son, and the subsequent "compromise" on his visitation rights to Bimby settled early this month.
Aquino and Yap were married in civil rites in July 2005. Their marriage was declared null in February last year, following allegations of infidelity on Yap's part.
The father no longer has custody of Bimby, but was, at the time of his separation from Aquino, allowed to visit his son 109 times in a year as ordered by court. The child lives with Aquino along with his half-brother, Joshua.
In March this year, Aquino sought to make permanent a temporary protection order against Yap, in addition the one she had filed for Bimby, over the alleged "amorous advances" of the cager on her.
Referring to the legal "compromise" the former couple arrived at early this month, Aquino said, "Any mother would always want what would be for the best para sa anak niya and I think ... the agreement between both parties would really benefit my son very much and anything that will benefit my son is always going to be my priority."
Citing a gag order, both parties have yet to divulge details of the arrangement.
