'Be Careful With My Heart' pilot wins timeslot
Papa Chen-Jodi-starrer dominates Twitterverse
MANILA, Philippines -- The pilot episode of the daytime series starring the first team-up of Richard Yap and Jodi Sta. Maria overtook its competition as the No. 1 show during its timeslot.
The first episode of "Be Careful With My Heart" led the ratings game last Monday with a 15.2% national TV rating, according to the latest data of Kantar Media.
The new series beat GMA 7's "Chef Boy Logro Kusina Master" by almost eight percentage points in audience share.
The premiere episode of the Prime-Tanghali offering also ranked ninth in the overall top TV programs in the country last Monday.
"Be Careful With My Heart" also made it to the local trending topics on micro-blogging site Twitter, with netizens noting the presence of the title several hours after the pilot's airing.
In the new daytime soap, Sta. Maria plays Maya, a young woman from the province who dreams of a better life for her family. Yap, who is popularly known for portraying Papa Chen in defunt TV series "My Binondo Girl," reprises his signature stern persona on-screen, as he plays Mr. Lim, a rich widower.
Directed by Jeffrey Jeturian and Rechie Del Carmen, "Be Careful With My Heart" also stars Mutya Orquia, Aiza Seguerra and Sylvia Sanchez.
It airs weekdays before the noontime variety program "It's Showtime."
