Bashers make fun of Daniel Padilla's 'albularyo' look
MANILA – Daniel Padilla shrugged off rumors that he cried when a group of real gangsters allegedly called him an “albularyo” (herb doctor), because of his look on the poster of his upcoming movie “She’s Dating the Gangster.”
In an interview with “The Buzz” on Sunday, Padilla said there’s no truth to such rumors because the alleged incident never happened.
“Sinasabi nga po nila tapos may nagsabi pa sa akin na umiyak pa daw ako tapos aalis daw ako ng bansa dahil doon. Nakakatawa lang din. Hindi naman ako naaapektuhan sa ganun,” he said, lamenting how his critics resort to making up false stories.
Meanwhile, Padilla confirmed that they have tweaked the story of the book, originally written by Bianca Bernardino, which served as the basis for the Star Cinema movie.
“Malaki [ang difference ng book at movie]. Hindi po natin pinapangit but pinaganda po natin. Nung sinulat po ni Bianca itong libro na ito, para sa mga teens po ang libro, para sa mga bata. Kung ilalagay po natin sa sinehan, bakit naman tayo papayag na bata lang ang makakanood? Bakit hindi pwedeng gawin na nating pampamilya na? So ganoon po ang ginawa namin,” he said.
Set to hit theaters on Wednesday, July 16, Padilla said he is looking forward for their supporters to finally see the movie because they really worked hard for it.
"She's Dating The Gangster" centers on 17-year-old Athena (Bernardo) who strikes a deal with school heartthrob Kenji (Padilla) to pretend to be his girlfriend, in the hope of making his ex-girlfriend jealous.
A recently released trailer for the film gives a glimpse of Bernardo and Padilla playing different characters, apparently in a different setting from the '90s romance of Athena and Kenji.
"She's Dating the Gangster" is the third big-screen outing of the rumored couple, following "Must Be... Love" and "Pagpag: Siyam na Buhay."
