Annabelle Rama: Provocation led to attack
MANILA, Philippines - Talent manager Annabelle Rama on Monday said she will turn to prayer so that her critics will understand why she made a scene at the wake of Comedy King Dolphy last Friday.
Rama insisted she was provoked when she attacked entertainment reporter Chito Alcid last week.
Rama said she asked her husband, Eddie Gutierrez, and children, Ruffa, Raymond and Richard, to keep quiet since she will face the issue alone.
Footage taken by ABS-CBN showed Rama brandishing a cane as she attacked Alcid during the wake of the late comedian. She was stopped by German Moreno, Epi Quizon and Eddie Gutierrez.
Rama later apologized to the Quizon family for the commotion, saying that the incident erupted after she was "provoked" by Alcid.
Rama claimed that she was followed to the supposed VIP area by the group of Amalia Fuentes, who has recently squabbled with Rama.
She said she knew Fuentes planned on instigating a fight.
In an interview with Umagang Kay Ganda on Monday, Alcid told host Anthony Taberna that he never provoked Rama and was just staying at the table with Rama's enemy Amalia Fuentes.
So how can I provoke, alam ng Panginoon yan,” he said.
“Noong nakita ko siya two seconds tumalikod ako kasi ayaw ko yung terrorist attack na ginagawa niya sa nakakalaban niya even kay Wilma Galvante, Nadia Montenegro etc. ang lahat ng lumalabas sa bibig niya pare-pareho, bastos na sinasabi niya," he added.
The entertainment writer said Rama always bullies critics of her family.
He said Rama was irked after he wrote articles about Ruffa Gutierrez including Ruffa's alleged secret marriage to a certain Richard Daloia and the controversial Metro Manila Festival scam.
Maraming ganoong klaseng question.
Alcid is bent on filing criminal charges against Rama including a possible frustrated murder charge.
Meanwhile, Jerry Yap, chairman of Alab ng Mamamahayag (ALAM) asked media to boycott showbiz news about Rama.
