In an interview with ABS-CBN News after Dolphy’s burial at the Heritage Park in Taguig on Sunday, Padilla’s mom said she returned to the Philippines to give her daughter moral support.
“[I’m here] to give her moral support and to encourage her to stand up and then beautify herself and work. She needs to work really,” she said.
Just last week, Padilla’s father Carlos said he couldn't make it back to the Philippines to pay his last respects to Dolphy but said he is mourning for the veteran actor and that he was following the news about Dolphy through the coverage of ABS-CBN.
He also said he feels privileged to have worked with Dolphy in Sampaguita Pictures in the 1950s.
Padilla's parents have been living in Las Vegas in the US.
Dolphy was rushed to the Makati Medical Center on June 9 and was confined at the hospital's intensive care unit until his death last Tuesday. He battled chronic obstructive pulmonary disease over several years and died because of multiple organ failure and other complications.
