Maria Aragon to join Kapamilya network
MANILA, Philippines – Maria Aragon, the 10-year-old Filipino-Canadian singer who was discovered on YouTube by Lady Gaga, arrived in Manila on Wednesday night to become the latest addition to the roster of Kapamilya stars.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Aragon said she is very excited to become a Kapamilya.
Aragon is set to sign a contract with ABS-CBN’s record label, Star Records.
"I’m gonna be recording an album under Star Records... You’ll hear sounds like obviously 'Born This Way' and 'Kung Bubuksan Mo Lang ang Puso,'" she said.
Aragon is also scheduled to appear in a number of shows in the Kapamilya network.
Aragon rose to fame after Lady Gaga posted in her official Twitter account a video link of the girl's cover version of the song “Born This Way.”
The video became viral in YouTube and gained millions of views.
It paved the way for Aragon to reach her dreams.
She had a duet with Lady Gaga in the latter’s concert in Toronto.
Aragon also appeared in popular American shows including “The Ellen Degeneres Show” and “Good Morning America.”
Even Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper visited Aragon in her residence in Winnipeg because he wanted to meet the young singer.
Aragon recently performed before the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge during the celebration of Canada Day. – Report from Ginger Conejero, ABS-CBN News
Filipina recording artist in Ireland
Filipino talents are everywhere. I hope ABS-CBN will look into this one Filipina who is a recording artist in Ireland who just released her first CD.
The name is Noriana Kennedy whose roots go back to Iba, Zambales and Cebu. Noriana's mother, Vicenta Benavidez's mother is from Cebu and father is from Zambales. Noriana's mother is married to James Kennedy and the family now lives in Ireland.
Check her out on NorianaKennedy.com. Better still if she can be featured in the news sometime like all the other Filipinas who are in the entertainment business outside of RP.
Thanks.
