MANILA, Philippines -- Veteran actress Snooky Serna said she is a reformed woman, thanks to her change of faith.

Set to make her film acting comeback, Serna on Friday shared another milestone in her life, which she credits for having genuine "peace in [her] heart."
During a press conference announcing her comeback as a talent of Regal Films and sister company Growl Entertainment, Serna revealed that she converted to become an adherent of Iglesia ni Cristo in 2011.
"I don't want to sound preachy or nagpapa-bait, pero a lot of it has to do with my change of faith, kasi nag-Iglesia ni Cristo po ako," Serna told reporters on Friday, referring to the positive changes in her life.
"I wouldn't want to say na, so as not to offend anyone, na I just want to personally want to say that I found the truth, I found my truth, and I'm in a very good place, and I'm so happy na nagkaroon ako siguro ng banal na takot, as they would say it po sa Iglesia," she added.
'Past is past'
Serna said that because of her new faith, she has outgrown "bad habits" and has become more mindful of her decisions.
"Awa naman ng Diyos, [wala na] 'yung mga dating bad habits, 'yung mga late-late. Dapat hindi na nga i-mention eh, kasi past is past na, pero nawala na siya," Serna said. "Now para bang I'm thinking twice before I do anything thoughtlessly. Ngayon, doble isip bago magdesisyon."
Among her recent life decisions is her "choice" to be single.
"I choose to be single. I think if it's God's will that it (being single) will be forever, then okay lang sa akin. I take that, I accept that. This is contrived, but I would rather be alone and happy, than be with someone and be miserable," Serna said.
Serna was married to actor-model Ricardo Cepeda for over 12 years, before she wedded band vocalist Nino Mendoza, from whom she is now separated.
Now past her failed marriages that hogged headlines in 2008, and her supposed reputation for being unprofessional as an actress, Serna, entertainment reporters noted on Friday, looks more radiant than ever -- a thing she attributes as well to the sense of peace she has found in her faith.
"The secret to it, unsolicited comment ito, se-segue ako, it is siguro now I really truly -- walang showbiz ito ah, as I always say -- I have peace in my heart," Serna said. "I really, really have peace. 'Yung peace to the point na being so serene, that people sometimes mistake it na, 'Sad ka ba?'"
"Pero hindi 'yun 'yun eh. Chill lang ako, cool lang ako. Mas gusto ko pa sa taping, naghihintay ako sa set kaysa ako hinhintay. There are perks also of being on time. Kasi people treat you with respect, and I feel the genuine like. Hindi 'yung ngingitaan ka, pero ngiting aso pala, kasi nagma-maldita ka, pero gone are those days," she added.
Now, with renewed fervor, Serna returns to a film set after a prolonged absence from the big screen.
She is set to star with actor Coco Martin and actress Marian Rivera in a Regal Films production. The film, directed by Maryo J. de los Reyes, is expected to premiere later this year.
