MANILA – After their controversial break-up, the paths of former sweethearts John Lloyd "Lloydie" Cruz and stylist Liz Uy have crossed again.

Uy, a fashion magazine editor, attended a Swatch event Wednesday in Taguig City where it launched Cruz as its newest endorser.  In the course of the press conference, the company raffled off some of its watches to the members of the media.

During the raffle, Cruz, to his surprise, picked his former girlfriend’s number. 

“Parang for a time, may moment na akala namin wala na, umalis na iyong nakakuha noong number na iyon. And little did we know na siya pala ang nakakuha,” Cruz said.

Cruz went to Uy’s table and handed her the prize. After which, he hugged her tightly amid the crowd’s cheer.

In a chance interview, the young actor shared that “he had a feeling” Uy was going to show up in the event.  He admitted that “it felt really good” to see Uy, who he now described as a “good friend.”

“I was very happy to see her. Hindi ko na siya madalas makita ngayon,” he said.

When the entertainment press pointed out that his embrace was too tight, Cruz replied:  “Normal lang iyon siyempre kapag may nakita kang tao na matagal mo nang hindi nakita and medyo hindi mo nakikita ng madalas.”

Cruz and Uy had separated amid speculation that he was courting actress Ruffa Gutierrez. Cruz was also romantically linked to his former leading lady, Sarah Geronimo.

Cruz, along with Gutierrez and Geronimo, has repeatedly denied the allegations. The young actor also remained mum on why he and Uy split. Report from Marie Lozano, ABS-CBN News
