MANILA – Why is actor Robin Padilla taking a break from show business?

Definitely, not to run in 2010 elections, Padilla said, but to study martial arts in India. Padilla stressed that he has no plans of joining the world of politics.

"May kalungkutan iyan. Wala akong magagawa kapag ako ay naging pulitiko. Mas marami akong magagawa kapag ako ay artista. Kapag ako ay napunta sa pulitika, magiging abnormal ang lahat ng nandoon," Padilla told “SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon.”

Reports about his alleged plan to run in 2010 surfaced recently after news of him taking a break from work broke out.

"Sa ngayon, ang plano [ko] ay pupunta ako ng India at pag-aaralan ko ang martial arts nila doon,” Padilla said.

The actor added that he also wants to spend more time with daughter Queenie, who just turned 18 on July 17. 

“Mabigat para sa ama iyon (debut). Kasunod noon ay mag-aasawa na," Padilla said.

Padilla said he is aware that his daughter has a lot of celebrity suitors. If he would be given a chance to decide for his child though, he would want her to have a boyfriend who is not from showbiz.

Right now, Queenie is romantically linked to young actor-host PJ Valerio. Reports circulated that the two were spotted dating in a Quezon City mall. -abs-cbnNEWS.com
