MANILA, Philippines - It's all systems go for the grand finals of the talent show "Showtime" tomorrow, Saturday, July 24. Dubbed "Ultimate Showdown," the grand finals will showcase the best of Pinoy talent in dancing.

At a recent rehearsal, finalists were seen perfecting their stunts and dance moves. The grand finalists were giving their all in their performances.

But away from the blinding stage lights, group members showed signs of fatigue, lack of sleep, and irritability.

"Hindi na po namin iniisip ang pagod at hirap. Malayo na po 'yung narating namin," said a member of Beat Guys of Marikina.

"Kami rin nag-aaway-away na. Siyempre, iba-iba ang ideas," shared a member of Mortal Combat and the Show Gays of Quezon City.

But reaching the grand finals itself is already a victory for many of the groups that qualified.

The groups from General Santos (XBGenSan) and Capiz (Sensei), for instance, embarked on an adventure of a lifetime to join "Showtime," saving whatever money they could just to get on a ship that would bring them to Manila even if they did not have any more money left in their pockets.

The finalists all agreed that winning the grand finals is the most important thing, most especially since the cash prize is P1 million.

According to Vice Ganda, one of the judges, the grand finals is his most challenging task as a judge.

"Alam ko kasi 'yung pinagdaanan nila. Nasubaybayan ko sila ng 9 months. Mahirap talaga," he said.

Win or lose, the 11 grand finalists vow to celebrate the true spirit of "Showtime"--to show off and make people happy. -- Report from Marie Lozano, ABS-CBN News
