Jessica Sanchez talks about Glee, Miss Saigon
SAN JOSE, California – “American Idol” runner-up Jessica Sanchez finally broke her silence after reports surfaced that she is set to appear on the hit TV show “Glee,” as well as play the lead role in the film adaptation of the stage musical “Miss Saigon.”
In an interview with ABS-CBN North America News Bureau, Sanchez said she has not auditioned for boths projects yet but the possibilities are being discussed.
"There are definitely things happening on the side for me. But I can't confirm anything at all," she said.
The 16-year-old singer said what keeps her busy right now is the ongoing “American Idol” summer concert tour.
Just recently, Sanchez performed with winner Phillip Phillips and the rest of the top ten at the HP Pavillion in San Jose as part of the “American Idol” tour.
And fans just can't get enough of her.
“Naku napakalaking karangalan [niya sa mga Pilipino]. Napakahusay po niya. Napakaganda ng boses," said Zeny Sison, one of Sanchez’s fans.
Sanchez also gave hints about her debut album with Interscope Records, saying it will have a lot of fun, fast songs with a few ballads.
"I've just been doing the tour and I've been recording for my upcoming album, which is coming out in November, so it's been a really busy time," said Sanchez.
Meanwhile, it's not just Sanchez’s career that's on a roll. She recently admitted to fans that she's happily dating “Idol” eighth-placer DeAndre Brackensick.
"I don't look at it as a serious thing. I can't say that we're going to get married. It's just kind of a thing that's going on. I mean we both like each other a lot," she said.
For all the good things happening in her life, Sanchez said she feels so thankful to the people that matter most.
"My family and my supporters. I go into it everyday and they remind me where I came from and who was really there for me from the very beginning," she said.
Sanchez may be on top of the world but for this young singer, the possibilities are still endless as she continues to make a name in the music scene. – Report by Henni Espinosa, ABS-CBN North America News Bureau
