MANILA, Philippines -- Former beauty queen and actress Alma Concepcion returns to show business via ABS-CBN's newest series "Pintada."
In a press conference for the show on Monday night, Concepcion said she took a break from show business to be a "hands-on" mom to her child, who is now 12 years old.
"I did 'Krystala' before parang he was asking why I had to work. So naglaban ang aking pagiging ina. Pero once in a while I did soaps with other channels. Parang on and off. Noong full day na siya sa school parang hindi niya na ako hinahanap tapos sabi niya, 'Mommy bakit di ka na lumalabas sa TV?' Tapos sabi ko sa kanya, 'Di ba sabi mo.' Tapos sabi niya, 'Pwede ka ng lumabas ngayon," Concepcion shared.
The comebacking actress also said she decided to go back to school and finish her college degree.
"I'm on my fourth year at pumasok nga itong 'Pintada' and nami-miss ko na ding umarte so I decided I can juggle it," she explained.
Concepcion, who was crowned Binibining Pilipinas-International in 1994, is now a single mom after her six-year relationship with her non-showbiz boyfriend ended.
"Medyo strict ang relationship ko before. That's the reason why I'm out of the showbiz din. So now I can do everything, no rules, no limitations... I'm single and ready to mingle," she said.
