MANILA – “The Voice Kids” finalist Juan Karlos Labajo rocked the Newport Performing Arts Theater at Resorts World Manila in Pasay City on Sunday night as he performed “Eto na Naman” with the song's original singer, Gary Valenciano.
Their performance of the upbeat song was well-received by the live audience, who were cheering for them the entire time.
Labajo’s coach, Bamboo Manalac, was also all praises for the 13-year-old, saying their number “was so fun to see and so fun to watch.”
Noting Labajo’s unique ability to “find the heart of each song,” Manalac said: “Why should JK win? Why should JK be the grand champion? There is one thing that JK shares with all the guest performers tonight. Hindi taas ng boses, hindi lakas, hindi power. The one he shares with all the performers is he can find the heart of each song.”
“Sa tagal ko na, it’s hard to find someone who knows how to find the song. That’s a different talent talaga. I really think he really deserves to the ‘The Voice,’” he added.
Manalac also thanked Labajo for being an obedient student, who applies everything he taught him during rehearsals.
“JK great job! Thank you for having faith in me. And thank you JK for listening to me. Thank you for being such a good pupil, student,” he said.
Shortly after their performance, the words “Gary V and JK” immediately landed a spot on Twitter’s worldwide trending topics.
Labajo is competing against Darren Espanto, Darlene Vibares and Lyca Garainod.
