MANILA, Philippines – It all started with “Wowowee” main host Willie Revillame’s threat to quit from the ABS-CBN noontime show if the management rejected his demand to fire entertainment writer Jobert Sucaldito.

Revillame got incensed two months ago reportedly because of Sucaldito’s constant criticisms of his television program.

Now, after 5 years, “Wowowee” will have its finale on Friday.

On Thursday Sucaldito broke his silence on the issue. He told abs-cbnNEWS.com that although he is happy for the new show that will replace “Wowowee,” he also feels sad particularly for Revillame.

"Honestly, I'm very excited with the new show. But of course, I'm not the type of person who will rejoice over someone's downfall. That's against the law of God. I have to admit that up to this day I'm still hurting. I just want to move on in life. Whatever decisions ABS-CBN did for Willie is theirs and I fully respect that. I'm in no position to comment further. Life goes on for me, come what may," Sucaldito said.

Sucaldito also took offense to insinuation that he was the reason for the demise of “Wowowee.”

"Everyting was co-incidental. I was the last straw. Naging instrumento lang siguro ako. Siguro, it was meant to happen lang na ako lang ang naging instrumento. Pero sabi ko nga ang downfall ng ‘Wowowee’ is not me. It's not the network. It's Willie. It self-destructed. Wala namang pwedeng sisihin dito kung hindi ang may katawan," Sucaldito said.

Sucaldito maintained that he did nothing wrong. He also admitted that ever since the controversy broke out, he and Revillame have not communicated.

Asked if he is now open for a reconciliation, Sucaldito replied: "I don't know when. Siguro in God’s time. Pero if it happens, handa ako kasi kung ikaw malinis ang konsensiya mo handa ka. If he feels sorry for what he has done, wala pa kasi akong maramdamang remorse, 'yong sa aming dalawa.”

New show

Last Tuesday, ABS-CBN announced that “Pilipinas, Win na Win” will replace the controversial noontime show “Wowowee.”

“Pilipinas, Win na Win” will be hosted by Kris Aquino, Robin Padilla and "Wowowee" female hosts Pokwang, Valerie Concepcion and Mariel Rodriguez, said Bong Osorio, head of ABS-CBN Corporate Communications.

“It is a game and variety show that will surely bring joy, energy and hope to Filipinos all over the world,” Osorio said in a statement.

“'Pilipinas, Win na Win' will be managed by director Johnny Manahan, creative director Bobot Mortiz, business unit head Jay Montelibano, and executive producers Phoebe Anievas and Rancy Recato. It will be aired after 'Showtime,’” he added.

Osorio said the camp of Revillame, the on-leave host of “Wowowee,” has been informed about the changes. He also confirmed that Revillame will be given a new TV show.

Sucaldito, who is a good friend of Aquino, extended his happiness to the actress-host's TV comeback project.

"I'm very happy because I know Kris's capacity and Robin's capability and Pokwang, Valerie and Mariel’s. Alam natin ang kapasidad nila kung gaano sila kahuhusay na hosts," Sucaldito said. -Report by Reyma Buan-Deveza, abs-cbnNEWS.com
