Richard Gutierrez faces raps for driver's death
MANILA, Philippines -- Actor Richard Gutierrez is again facing criminal charges over the death of his driver Nomar Pardo in a car accident in 2009.

In an eight-page decision released on Tuesday, the Court of Appeals has ordered the filing of criminal charges against Gutierrez, after it granted the petition of Pardo's widow Lorayne to reverse the Department of Justice's (DOJ) resolution on the case in 2010.
Gutierrez now faces a criminal case of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, the same charge filed by Lorayne in 2009 against the actor, which was then junked by the DOJ the following year.
Lorayne filed the criminal case against Gutierrez in July 2009, two months after her husband died in a car accident in Silang, Cavite in May that year.
At the time, Gutierrez was driving the Nissan GT-R Sedan, with Pardo as a passenger. The wrecked car was found in ravine about 35 meters away from an electric post which it had hit after running at a high speed. Gutierrez, at the time, attributed the accident to the road's slippery condition.
Gutierrez, who was also injured from the accident, was cleared of Lorayne's charge of abandonment of victim. The CA cited the actor's having sustained injuries from the road mishap as reason for dropping the case.
As of writing, Gutierrez nor his manager and mother Annabelle Rama have commented on the ruling of the appellate court.
