MANILA, Philippines – James Yap has chosen not to engage in a tit-for-tat with wife Kris Aquino following her no-holds-barred interview on "The Buzz" on Sunday where she declared that it was already “too late” to save their marriage.

Instead of answering claims such as marital infidelity, Yap, the star player of B-Meg Derby Ace (formerly Purefoods), said he just wants to spend more time with their 3-year-old son Baby James considering that they didn’t see each other for 3 weeks.

"Oo nga e sobrang miss na miss ko na siya. Tsaka nakarating silang safe sila dito... Masaya," he said

Aquino, along with Baby James and Josh, her son from a previous relationship, had a vacation in the United States for 3 weeks.

Last Friday, after Yap’s basketball game, he was caught bonding with Baby James. Yap was enjoying every minute he was spending with his celebrity son.

When asked if he would still fight to save their marriage despite Aquino’s pronouncement that reconciliation was already impossible, Yap curtly replied: “Sa akin na lang ‘yon.”

Prior to Aquino’s US trip, Yap issued an official statement that he would not give up on their 5-year marriage. He said he would try to win her affection by courting her again.

"Naniniwala ako sa kahalagahan ng pagkakaroon ng buo ang pamilya. Kaya ipaglalaban ko na mapanatiling buo ang pamilya namin ni Kris anuman ang mangyari. Alam ko walang pamilyang hindi dumaan sa ganitong pagsubok,” he said in his official statement.

Yap had also said he would fight to save their marriage because he promised Aquino’s mom, the late Corazon Aquino, that he would keep his family intact.

With Aquino's tell-all interview with Boy Abunda, ABS-CBN Bacolod tried to get the reaction of Yap’s family in Escalante City, Negros Occidental. His uncle, however, declined to grant any interview as he slammed the Kapamilya network for its alleged bias.

Yap’s uncle accused the network of purportedly favoring the actress-television host in its reports.

In her interview, Aquino maintained that she did her best to save their relationship. She pointed out that even though Yap had allegedly committed infidelity, she was still able to forgive him.

“I acknowledged in my heart, naubos talaga yong love April 26 of this year. May nasabi siya sa anak ko, which I will forever keep between the 2 of us. May nasabi siya sa galit namin sa isa't isa siguro noong panahon na yon na nasaktan talaga ako. At nagpatunay talaga sa akin na this is not the man for me, this is not the man I want to stay with because dinadamay na niya ang 3 years old na bata na dapat protektahan nating dalawa,” she said.

“Di ba may kasabihan tayo the straw that broke the camel's back? For me, that was it. The love was dying for a very long time, but siyempre Boy, you'll try. Susubukan mo talaga…. Nambabae, pinatawad ko. Ito talaga hindi ko kinaya.”

She also appealed to Yap to stop dragging her mom’s name to their issue.

“I would like to make a request kay James. Mom was so good to you. Huwag mo nang idamay ang mom. Nakikiusap ako. Kasi nananahimik na ang mom sa langit. If you also love mom, don't bring her into this,” she said.

She, however, clarified that she no longer harbors any ill feeling toward him because of their son. “Bali-baligtarin natin, balikan natin, kung isusuma tutal natin lahat ng iniyak ko, lahat ng iniyak niya, lahat ng pinag-awayan namin, ang suma tutal niyan is nagkaroon kami ng Bimbi (Baby James).
