Robin, Mariel seek Vatican nod on wedding
MANILA, Philippines – Action star Robin Padilla has admitted that he and his wife Mariel Rodriguez indeed went to Vatican City during their Europe trip and tried to ask for permission so they could wed in Catholic rites.
In an interview with ”Showbiz News Ngayon” upon their arrival in Manila Wednesday morning, Padilla revealed that the Catholic church wants more requirements.
“Marami pang hinihingi sa amin yung simbahan... Dalawang araw kami nandoon eh. Inasikaso namin ng dalawang araw. Hindi pa kami napagbigyan. Siguro pag balik... Ako hindi ako susuko. Sana si Mariel huwag din siyang sumuko,” he said.
In a separate interview on Wednesday, Rodriguez said it is not her wish anymore to be married again in Catholic rites.
“Nagbago ang gusto ko eh. So hindi ko na hinahangad na magkaroon ng church wedding. Ngayon ko lang to sinabi. Hindi ko na iyon hinahangad ngayon,” she said.
Despite this, she said their love for each other just got stronger after their second honeymoon in Europe.
“When I fell in love with Robin, I was really his world. Sa akin umikot ang mundo niya. Siyempre medyo naging busy ako, naging busy siya. So dito sa trip na ‘to naramdaman ko na ako ulit ang buhay niya,” she said.
“Thank you for making me fall in love with you all over again. That is what marriage is. It’s to fall in love over and over again with the same person,” she added.
Meanwhile, Rodriguez also said she did not got the chance to meet her former boyfriend, actor Zanjoe Marudo, when they were in Paris.
“Actually si Robin had a show there. Unfortunately, hindi ako nakanood ng show nila. I never saw any of them. It was just really the trip. Our trip is different from theirs,” she said.
Several Kapamilya stars including Padilla, Bea Alonzo, Zanjoe Marudo, Diether Ocampo and Angel Locsin had a show in Paris last week for the Kapamilya Fiesta Caravan.
