MANILA, Philippines – Two celebrities recently underwent beauty treatments at the Calayan Surgicentre in an effort to boost their career and image.

Actress-comedienne Keanna Reeves underwent a skin rejuvenating treatment called 24 Karat Gold. Reeves, the first grand winner of Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) Celebrity Edition, said she tried the procedure to firm her skin.

"At least kamukha ko na si Cleopatra. Magiging gold na mukha ko. Baka masanla na ako, pambayad ng mga utang kasi may tsismis ito. Ang lola ninyo nagpa-gold facial. Kaya ninyo ba ‘yon?" the comedienne joked.

24 Karat Gold Facial is a way of treating skin using a sheet of pure gold, which can lift and firm the skin. It also reduces the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and it also lightens the skin.

According to reports, the treatment started in Japan and it was inspired by Queen Cleopatra. They said the queen maintained the beauty of her face by putting a mask made pure of gold before she went to bed.

“Siyempre kailangan ko siyang ma-try para maayos ang mukha ko. Kasi ang artista kailangan laging maayos ang face," Reeves said.

Reeves did not deny that she's facing financial trouble right now due to lack of offers. She, however, remains optimistic.

"Parang open book ang buhay ko. Hindi naman ako pinanganak na mayaman. Ang artista kung may project ka, may pera. Kung wala kang project, gumawa ka ng paraan. Pero kung may project at may blessing na ibigay sa iyo, grab mo ‘yon at huwag pababayaan," Reeves said.

Reeves will be back on television as she is set to guest on ABS-CBN's newest show "Twist and Shout."

Whitening treatment

Bangs Garcia, on the other hand, had herself injected with whitening medicine. Garcia is known in the industry as one of sexy stars with brown complexion, thus, it was a big surprise that she decided to have the treatment.

But Garcia maintained that she had to do it since she wants to change her image.

“I know ang daming may gusto sa kulay ko, but I also want to feel kung paano maging maputi, like Rica Peralejo… pero hindi naman ganoong kaputi,” she said.
