Heavy rains, floods stun celebrities
MANILA, Philippines - Several celebrities took to microblogging site Twitter their sentiments as non-stop rains continue to batter Luzon and parts of Visayas in the recent days.
"American Idol" runner-up Jessica Sanchez joined the nation in praying for the Filipinos in flood-stricken areas.
In her official Twitter account on Tuesday, Sanchez tweeted the hashtag "PrayForThePhilippines."
Actress Anne Curtis, meantime, called on her followers to extend help to people affected by flood.
"To all my lovely followers lets get together blankets, towels any clothing items that you have to spare and donate them to Sagip Kapamilya," she said.
She also lauded those who are conducting relief operations. "Bless our rescue teams and volunteers who are out there to help our stranded kababayans," she said.
Television host Bianca Gonzalez, for her part, said: "#PrayForThePhilippines friends around the world, please help us pray that rains here stop. thank you."
Gonzalez also posted the bank accounts of Sagip Kapamilya where people can deposit cash donations for flood victims.
Actress KC Concepcion also did her part in calling for help.
She posted the hotline numbers of several government agencies as well as details on various relief centers.
Concepcion also said: "Pinoys, be strong! Nothing we can do right now about mother nature. Pls just keep warm, eat when u can, rest in a safer place.. Love u all."
