Celebrities do their share to help flood victims
MANILA, Philippines -- Celebrities are digging into their own pockets and using their endorsements to solicit donations for flood victims who are crammed in various evacuation centers after days after non-stop rains in Metro Manila and parts of Luzon.

"Thank you Tita Cora Ong, owner of CDO, for texting me about where to send ready to eat canned food. God bless your generous heart," host and actress Kris Aquino said in her official Twitter account.
CDO is the company behind the Highlands corned beef and San Marino canned tuna brands. Aquino is the current endorser for San Marino.
The company behind another brand that Aquino is endorsing -- Lucky Me instant noodles -- also agreed to help. Aquino, however, said that because instant noodles need hot water before it can be consumed, the company decided to donate biscuits instead.
"Thank you Lucky Me for the donation you'll send c/o 'KrisTV' tomorrow. God bless your generous company," she said.
Model Georgina Wilso, meanwhile, thanked the beauty products brand Garnier for their help.
"I'm so proud of Garnier for taking care of Filipinos. They will be donating P5.6 million worth of facial wash!! Thank you so much Garnier PH," she Wilson said through Twitter.
For her part, actress Iza Calzado thanked United Laboratories' personal care product Myra-E for their assistance.
"Thank you Myra Beauty for pledging a substantial amount for our relief operations -- may dagdag pa," she said.
But many celebrities are not just relying on their business connections to seek donations. Several stars are also buying goods on their own to donate to the flood victims.
"I would like to thank Shopwise Libis for accommodating all my relief goods request even if they're understaffed. Especially to Kat Chua," she said.
"Sports Unlimited" host Marc Nelson said, "Off to buy&deliver relief goods in a while and hope that the roads are the same. Stay safe!"
"I was told shampoo, soap, detergent, alcohol, toothbrushes and toothpaste are what's needed in areas we'll visit later (Wednesday). Will buy now," Aquino said before joining her brother, President Benigno Aquino III, on Wednesday to distribute to relief goods in Muntinlupa.
She even noted: "SM Bonus is really good value. Was able to buy a lot of tissue and alcohol. Safeguard has special soap w/ Head and Shoulders pack. Good value."
"Naku no Pantene sachets- anyway H&S also is P&G. Saw Manay Gina (De Venecua) also buying. Dagupan was spared so she's sharing with Quezon City," added Aquino, who endorses Pantene shampoo.
Aquino also ordered 500 packed lunches for Binalot for victims in Laguna and Muntinlupa.
"Rommel (Juan of Binalot) was so kind to not charge me for delivery. Sending all the way to Muntinlupa and Laguna," she said.
Aquino also credited her fellow celebrities for donating to the flood victims.
"Thank you Anne Curtis! She went to the supermarket to buy toothpaste and toothbrushes so we can bring tomorrow. Thank you Angel Locsin," Aquino said through Twitter.
"Si Kim Chiu went personally to Marikina, pinuno ang Hummer niya ng donations," she added.
"Super touched. Iza Calzado text me to ask what other supplies we needed - I said alcohol and toilet paper di namin nabili. She placed order and tomorrow pasundo ko sa house niya. Then she volunteered to join Angel and me in Valenzuela," Aquino added.
Aquino said she is joining ABS-CBN's Sagip Kapamilya today, August 9, to deliver relief goods in Pasig with Locsin, Curtis and host-comedian Vice Ganda.
