MANILA – New Kapamilya star JC de Vera is excited that he will be working with one of his showbiz crushes in his first television series with ABS-CBN.
In an interview with “The Buzz” aired on Sunday, de Vera revealed that he will be joining Maja Salvador, Angel Locsin and Jericho Rosales for an upcoming soap.
Saying Salvador was his first Kapamilya friend, de Vera said: “Nung nagsisimula pa lang din si Maja, sabay kami na pumasok eh. Nag-birthday concert siya sa isang comedy bar. Na-invite niya ako mag-guest sa show niya. Humanga ako, napakagaling niya sumayaw tapos yung personality niya very inspiring.”
Aside from Salvador, de Vera also finds Kim Chiu and Sarah Geronimo beautiful.
“Nagkasama kami [ni Sarah sa pelikula] kaya lang konti lang ang scenes namin together. Hindi ako makapagsalita kapag nandiyan siya,” he said.
De Vera joined showbiz in 2003. He rose to fame after he was cast in a youth-oriented show where he was then paired with Valerie Concepcion, which led to supporting and lead roles.
In 2010, de Vera left GMA-7 and moved to TV5.
But now that he’s with ABS-CBN, de Vera said it is like living up to his dream since he has always wanted to be part of the Kapamilya network since he was young.
“Naging part ng dream ko na maging part ng ABS-CBN kasi alam ko na nandito ang mga talented na tao, mga award-winning actors. Para sa isang actor, blessing sa iyo na makasama ang magagaling na actors kasi magiging magaling ka din dahil sa kanila,” he said.
While he came from a clan of showbiz personalities, de Vera said he wants to establish his name by himself.
Asked what he can offer that other Kapamilya actors can’t, he said: “Tingin ko 'yung pagiging humble, pagiging hardworking kasi hindi naman ako makakalipat sa iba’t ibang network kung may kaaway ako. Maayos kasi akong magtrabaho. Gusto ko lang magtrabaho.”
“Kung bibigyan ako ng project ng ABS-CBN, gagawin ko 'yun 100%. 'Yung edge, hindi ko masabi basta gusto ko lang magtrabaho,” he added.
Aside from his upcoming soap, de Vera will first be working on a “Maalaala Mo Kaya” episode this August.
