Singer-actress Cielito “Pops” Fernandez and Patricia Jacqueline Portillo, production manager of AVL Events International, Inc. (ALV) filed a complaint for grave threats, unjust vexation, and grave slander against Jeffrey Serrano at the Mandaue City Prosecution’s Office yesterday.

Serrano, who lives in Makati City, is an associate of producer Gail Antonette Soco. Soco had an entertainment contract with AVL, where complainant Fernandez is one of the talents. Fernandez was supposed to perform in a concert dubbed as “Divalicious” last May 30, at the Mandaue Cultural and Sports Complex in Mandaue City.

Before the concert was staged, AVL reportedly called the attention of Soco for some breach of contractual obligations in connection with the concert. Even with some problems, AVL’s performers and production staff came to Mandaue City on the day of the concert, willing to perform.

But when AVL’s performers were about to perform, a representative of Soco came on stage and announced to the audience that the concert had been cancelled.

Portillo tried to go on stage to announce to the audience that they will proceed with the concert, but respondent Serrano reportedly rushed to Portillo to stop her.

In their complaint-affidavit Portillo said that Serrano raised a dirty finger at her and told her “Blackmail ito! Manloloko ka!”

Portillio further said that Serrano refused to calm down and continued throwing vulgar words at her and said “Di ka taga rito! Papatayin kita!”

Portillo said that she tried to explain to Serrano that his producer Soco failed to pay ALV the contract price for the concert, but they were still willing to perform.

The production manager also said that during the confrontation, she was afraid that Serrano would hit her, as he was already very angry. Serrano reportedly even said that Fernandez's career was going downhill.

Portillo said that due to the heated argument and insults that Fernandez received, the singer suffered an anxiety attack and collapsed. Fernandez had to be brought to the hospital.
