Zia dedicates new album to Dolphy
MANILA - Singer Zia Quizon launched her newest album titled "A Little Bit Of Lovin" last Tuesday.
In a recent interview, Quizon said she dedicates her album to her father, the late "King of Comedy" Dolphy.
"Know na medyo natagalan kasi 'yung [album], kasi 'yun nga, medyo ma-drama 'yung 2012 namin," she said, referring to the passing of her father.
"I think it's a bit more personal na lang din, when the people listen to the songs [in the album]. And maybe, baka maintindihan nila kung bakit ko pinili 'yon, bakit 'yung line ay kinanta ko nang ganoon," she explained.
Quizon said she also offers the album to her mother, singer Zsa Zsa Padilla.
"I think it's nice lang din kasi I got to dedicate it to my dad, and my mom, too. You know both of them, I wouldn't be anywhere without them so it was a nice opportunity to dedicate the whole album to them," she said.
Despite the successful launch of her album, Quizon said she and her family are still trying to move on a year after Dolphy's death.
"It's kind of a baby steps type of a process din," she said. "But you know, we're learning. We're growing every day."
"I'm just glad din kasi I get to focus a little bit more on who we are as people, kaya medyo existentialist thoughts between daughter and mom. So it's a nice experience din kasi we get to discover ourselves."
Some of the tracks included in Quizon's newest album are "Seven Nation Army," "Masdan Mo Ang Kapaligiran," "Under and Over," "On The Run" and "Sweet Memories" and "And Little Bit of Lovin."
Also part of the album are the songs "Kung Ayaw Mo Sa Kin," "Baklt Dl Ka Crush ng Crush Mo" and "Katulad Ng Iba," which is the singer's collaboration with rapper Gloc-9.
