Meet Star Records' newest artists
MANILA - The newest additions to the roster of Star Records' artists were launched to members of the media on Thursday (August 15).
Among them is the classical pop-tenor group The Angelos, which is composed of George Sison-Tagle, Louie Abaigar and Paolo Libiran.
Members of the group said they are moving from their "classical hardcore" music to cater to a mainstream audience.
Their album, for instance, includes renditions of familiar songs such as "The Prayer," "Lipad ng Pangarap," "Paano Kita Pasasalamatan" and "Anong Nangyari."
During the media event, The Angelos performed the popular Filipino love song "Mula sa Puso."
"I think it's another step na rin po, na we are singing familiar songs na naririnig din ng mga tao. Sa history namin, originally we are known as parang classical hardcore. This time around, we'd like to share [our music] with a more mainstream, more masa [audience]," said Abaigar.
"Sobrang thankful kami sa Star Records na binigyan kami ng chance to share [our music]," he added.
Also launched as Star Records artists were fraternal twins Jesse and Christian Perkins, who are collectively known as The Perkins Twins.
The brothers are behind the new theme song for the "Ikaw Na" segment of the ABS-CBN late-night newscast "Bandila."
"It's really an honor. Our priorities before, initially, were sports and academics. But we are always into music, we are singing all the time... It was only recently [when] we decided to, maybe, take this a step further and perform. It's just an honor to be here," one of them said.
