Dawn, Richard get married in 'Walang Hanggan'
MANILA, Philippines – Twenty years since their on-screen team-up blossomed into a real-life relationship, actress Dawn Zulueta said she and former boyfriend Richard Gomez have only become closer "through the years."
Gomez and Zulueta first teamed up in the film "Hihintayin Kita sa Langit" in 1991, when the two would become a real-life couple. Now having reprised their love team via the top-rating series "Walang Hanggan," the actress said she and Gomez have only become closer.
"Through the years, we've just become better friends, we just enjoy each other's company even more now," Zulueta told ABS-CBN News on Thursday, while filming scenes for her onscreen wedding with Gomez.
"There's more to talk about, to share, and it's nice. We missed working together, we missed the companionship, so it's a good thing din talaga na we have a project like this, where we can work together, and where people can also appreciate us as a love team," she added.
Their long-time fans aren't the only ones who appreciate their "Walang Hanggan" tandem.
Addressing the issue that their respective spouses may be concerned over their team-up, Zulueta and Gomez that they have only been understanding and supportive of their project together.
Gomez is now married to Leyte Rep. Lucy Torres, while Zulueta is the wife of Davao del Norte Rep. Anton Lagdameo.
"'Yung mga asawa namin pareho, kay Dawn, si Anton, sa 'kin, si Lucy, naiintindihan talaga 'yung trabaho namin. At alam nila na pag movie or TV show, laging magkakaroon ng ganitong eksena. One way or another, darating at darating ang eksena," Gomez said.
"Alam naman nila na it's only make-believe, especially our spouses," Zulueta added. "Alam naman nila na sa ikagaganda lang ito ng storya, it's part of the story. Pag dating sa mga anak, alam din nila na it's only pretend."
Years after their separation in real life, Gomez and Zulueta now get to "pretend" being married, as the wedding scene of their "Walang Hanggan" characters Marco and Emily airs next week on ABS-CBN.
