MANILA - Teen superstar Kathryn Bernardo does not mind being compared to "Talk Back and You're Dead" actress Nadine Lustre, with whom she is said to have physical similarities.
The "She's Dating A Gangster" star was asked about Lustre on the sidelines of a press conference launching her as the first celebrity endorser of Nails by Chic Centre on Tuesday.
"Of course, pag sinasabihan ka na may kamukha ka, ganyan, nakakatuwa naman kasi may ibang tao na na-ko-compare ka nila," the 18-year-old actress said, noting Lustre is older by two years.
Bernardo, who is dubbed local showbiz's "Teen Queen," agreed that she and Lustre resemble each other in some angles, but said it shouldn't be an issue.
"Wala namang issue sa akin 'yon, kasi pag nakikita ko siya sa screen, very pretty naman siya, very charming, so wala namang problema," she said.
Asked if she and Lustre have met, Bernardo said she saw her personally at the backstage of "ASAP" last Sunday. However, as she was rushing for a production number at the time, Bernardo said she and Lustre did not have a chance to be introduced.
Battle of love teams?
Bernardo was also asked for her reaction to the supposed "bashing" towards Lustre over their apparent similarities. The "Diary ng Panget" star earlier admitted getting threats from people who claim to be fans of Bernardo and her onscreen partner Daniel Padilla.
Grabe lang talaga 'yung suporta nila and nagpapasalamat talaga ako doon."
Lustre and her leading man in "Talk Back and You're Dead," James Reid, have expressed admiration for the tandem of Bernardo and Padilla. They shrugged off comparisons to the more popular "love team," saying they are only starting out and still have much to prove.
Bernardo thanked both Lustre and Reid for considering "Kathniel" as an inspiration, but admitted she feels pressured by being tagged as the standard for young stars in terms of success.
Pressured din," she said.
