Punk princess Avril Lavigne in Manila concert
Canadian punk princess Avril Lavigne is coming to Manila for a one-night only performance at Araneta Coliseum dubbed as "Avril Lavigne: 2008 The Best Damn Tour Concert" this coming September 3, Wednesday.
According to information gathered by abs-cbnNEWS.com, Lavigne will be arriving in the country a day before her concert. The singer goes to Manila after staging a concert in Melox Ax Seoul, South Korea this September 1.
This is the second time that Lavigne will perform to her Filipino fans, her first was last March 31, 2005.
In the concert, Lavigne’s will perform her chart-topping hits which includes -- "Grlfriend," "When Your Gone," "The Best Damn Thing," "My Happy Ending," "He Wasn't, Fall To Pieces," "Complicated," "Sk8ter Boi," "I'm With You," "Why," "Losing Grip," "Don't Tell Me," "Keep Holding On," "Let Go and "Nobody's Home."
The 23-year-old Napanee, Ontario native rose to fame via "Let Go," her first full-length album, which debuted at number eight on the Billboard charts in June 2002. She co-wrote the dozen introspective songs on her albums "Under My Skin" and "The Best Damn Thing."
The concert is produced by VIVA Concerts and Events with ABS-CBN and ASAP '08 as its official media partner.
Lavigne's show will actually be the first of a series of concerts featuring foreign acts that will be held in the Big Dome for the month of September.
Aside from Lavigne's concert, Al Jarreau and George Benson, the duo behind the hit “Everytime You Go Away” will also have a one-night concert on September 8, Monday.
On September 13, Saturday, Petula Clark, the “Downton” girl will grace the big dome. On August 20, our very own Apo Hiking Society will have their concert dubbed as "Apo of the Philippines."
Apo is the group behind the hits -- "Batang Bata Ka Pa," "Awit ng Barkada," "Blue Jeans," "Doobidoo," "Panalangin," and "Handog ng Pilipino sa Mundo."
Last but not the least, singer-composer Ogie Alcasid will mark his 20th year in showbiz with his concert "Twenty-Twenty," this coming September 27.
Alcasid’s hits include -- "Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang," "Dito sa Puso Ko," "Nandito Ako," "Pagkakataon," "Panaginip," "Pangako" and "Sa Kanya."
Lavigne's concert's tickets are now available at all SM Ticketnet outlets and at Araneta Coliseum.
