Lyca on Anne: She has a nice voice even if she is off-key
MANILA - Like many girls her age, "The Voice Kids" champion Lyca Gairanod considers teen heartthrob Daniel Padilla her "crush" in showbiz.
The 9-year-old singer, who was recently surprised by Padilla in an episode of "ASAP," dedicated a song to 19-year-old actor on the sidelines of the filming for the primetime series "Hawak Kamay" on Thursday.
Gairanod performed a few lines from Padilla's hit "Nasa Iyo Na Ang Lahat." She then drew laughs when she hurriedly fixed herself when asked for her message to the actor.
"Kuya Daniel, sana makasama kita sa show mo, at sana makasama ko rin si Ate Kathryn (Bernardo, Padilla's onscreen partner). Sana kayong dalawa, makasama ko kayo," said Gairanod, whose acting debut in "Maalaala Mo Kaya" posted a huge rating last Saturday.
Gairanod also hopes to work with "It's Showtime" co-host Anne Curtis, a self-confessed non-singer who has nonetheless managed to fill up the Araneta Coliseum in a solo concert.
"Kahit po sintunado siya, maganda pa rin po ang boses niya," Gairanod said.
In her interview, Gairanod also sang a few lines from the Aegis song "Hesus," which she hopes to be included in her upcoming solo album under MCA Universal. According to Gairanod, her winning song "Narito Ako" will be one of the tracks in her debut record.
The young singer, along with "The Voice Kids" runner-up Darren Espanto, will join music veteran Lani Misalucha in her concert tour starting Friday.
Apart from her stint in "Hawak Kamay," Gairanod has been cast in the Vice Ganda-starrer "Praybeyt Benjamin 2," which will compete in this year's Metro Manila Film Festival.
