Kris calls for unity, prayer for flood victims
MANILA -- Since Tuesday, host-actress Kris Aquino has been busy helping in the relief efforts for those who have been affected by tropical storm "Maring."
Aquino, who has been sharing her activities via her official social media accounts, has been visiting evacuation centers in flood-hit areas to distribute relief goods, as well as food.
"For me the best way to honor my Mom & Dad's memory is to reach out to more Filipinos in need," she wrote in Facebook.
On her morning show "KrisTV" on Thursday, she made an appeal for unity during this difficult period.
"During these trying moments ay mahalaga ang pagkakaisa at pagtutulungan gaya ng ipinakita natin noon noong ipinaglalaban natin ang ating demokrasya. Ipagpatuloy natin ang pagdarasal for the victims of typhoon Maring and let's keep the Filipino spirit alive sa kabila ng hamon ay patuloy tayong magpapapakatatag at mananatili tayong nakangiti," she said.
On Wednesday, Aquino and her sisters visited the tomb of their father, former senator Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr., to commemorate his 30th death anniversary.
Ballsy, Pinky, Viel and Kris visited the tomb of their parents at the Manila Memorial Park in Sucat, Parañaque.
Their brother, President Benigno Aquino III, was not able to accompany his sisters because he was in Biñan, Laguna to distribute relief goods to flood victims.
"Sa mismong araw ng 30th death anniversary ng dad muli kaming nagtipon-tipon sa Manila Memorial Park kung saan sila nakalibing ng mom," Kris said on her show. "Nag-alay kami ng rosaryo para sa dalawang taong labis nating minamahal at nirerespeto."
From there, the Aquino sisters helped out storm victims in Paranaque before going to a barangay in Fairview, Quezon City to distribute relief goods.
