'Eruption' celebrates birthday on 'It's Showtime'
MANILA - "It's Showtime" co-host Eric Tai, more popularly known as "Eruption," celebrated his birthday on the noontime program on Saturday.
The 30-year-old performed a song and dance number with XB Gensan, and singers Andy Smith and Will Devon, to the tune of Daft Punk's "Harder, Better, Faster" and B.O.B.'s "Nothing On You."
In a recorded message aired shortly afterwards, his fiance, Rona Samson, said: "Happy, happy birthday! You deserve the best in the world kasi the best partner ka talaga."
"I know I tell you everyday how grateful I am and how I love you so much, but those words are not enough. I love you and happy birthday!" she added.
For his part, Eruption, who was moved to tears after hearing the birthday messages of several others, thanked Samson for accepting his weaknesses.
He also responded to her question: "DOTA o ako?"
Samson is referring to a highly-popular computer game.
"We made a deal. Before araw-araw 'yun eh. Ngayon three times a week na lang. So mas madami 'yung sa kanya," Eruption said.
He also expressed his gratitude towards his fans and the directors of the noontime program, whom he thanked for taking a chance with relative newcomer such as himself.
"I'm surrounded by so much talent here -- from Vhong (Navarro) to Anne (Curtis) to Billy (Crawford)-- and me, coming from walang experience sa showbiz, tinanggap niyo ako," he said.
"Hanggang ngayon, may mga tao na nagsasabi: 'Sino si Eruption? Bakit nandiyan siya? Parang hindi siya katulad ng mga iba.' But I try my best para pasayahin 'yung mga madlang people," he continued.
To which, Crawford responded by saying: "Ang mahalaga ay nandito ka, at kilala ka ng madlang pipol na ikaw si Eruption."
