MANILA, Philippines – Actress Ai Ai Delas Alas shared her enthusiasm now that she is back in school.

In an interview with Boy Abunda in his Saturday show “The Bottomline,” Delas Alas revealed that the primary reason she went back to school is her interest in joining politics.

“Kasi alam ko mayroon akong magagawang kabutihan sa ating local government,” Delas Alas said.

She stated that getting involved in public service is a big responsibility since public interest is at stake.

She likewise wants to erase the common notion that those in the entertainment industry are not equipped to become public servants.

If given a chance to become president of the country, the first thing Delas Alas would do is to fight corruption.

“Ako ang gagawin ko bilang presidente, susundin ko ang tinatawag nating Mother Theresa’s Theory. First, the more you care about the powerless, the more power you have. Second, the more you serve those with no influence, the more influence God will give you. And third, the more you humble yourself, the more you are honored by others,” Delas Alas said.

What if she is pitted against Batangas Gov. Vilma Santos? The comedienne said she would withdraw from the race since she has very high regard for Santos.

“Pag ayaw na ni Ate Vi, ako na ‘yong papalit,” she teasingly said.

Delas Alas has also been a supporter of the late former president Corazon Aquino. When Abunda asked her to cite the former president’s legacy, she said: “Hindi korap at madasalin.”

Issues

Abunda also asked her to comment on various issues confronting Philippine society today.

On the Reproductive Health bill, the actress said she supports it.

She is also not against sex education. She quickly clarified though that it should be taught only in high school starting sophomore year.

She also supports the legalization of jueteng, saying it could possibly be a source of government revenues.

Moreover, she said she supports the passage of a divorce law in the Philippines. She argued that it is useless for couples to stay married if love is not present anymore.

Ano ba yan? Yung gilagid ni Ai Ai nakakadiri

good to have ambition

I think Ai Ai knows that having public awareness is important for those entering public life, but she must also remember that being humble and having the common touch is not invitation for others to come and bully her thinking that humility is weakness, that being inflexible is strength. I'm sure Ai Ai knows that many Filipinos have that mind set. I applaud her for having the ambition and for moving in the right direction to achieve her goals.

Hay Naku!!!!!!!

Ang buhay nga naman, parang madyong. Hindi naubusan
ng ambisyon. Pero naman, naman, marami nang nakakatawang
pulitiko. Huwag ka nang dumagdad pa sana. Ipaligo mo
na lang yang katawang lupa mong amoy lupa na talaga.

Kung mapilit ka talaga, magumpisa ka muna bilang barangay
tanod. Susme, presidente agad ang puntirya!!???

PWEDE PO BA MS AI-AI, TAMA NA

PWEDE PO BA MS AI-AI, TAMA NA PO ARTISTA SA POLITIKA NATIN. KAWAWA NAMAN PILIPINAS.
