Herbert hasn't moved on from split up with Kris?
MANILA – Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista denied that he felt awkward when he saw his former girlfriend Kris Aquino during his last-minute interview on “Aquino and Abunda Tonight” last August 11.
According to Bautista, they were only doing their jobs. “Wala naman problema sa aming dalawa. Even if you watch the entire segment, it was purely professional. Mukhang okay naman siya,” he said.
Bautista and Aquino were first rumored to be dating in March, which was confirmed by the TV host the following month. A week after her admission, however, the two reportedly stopped dating over the supposed disapproval of Bautista's children.
During Bautista's interview with Aquino, he discussed a recent incident wherein he slapped a suspected drug dealer.
''Hindi nananakit si Mayor... damdamin lang. Chos!'' Aquino said in jest. ''Pasensya ka na. At least, friends na tayo.''
Asked about Aquino’s remark during the interview, Bautista said: "Typical Kris Aquino 'yun. Punchliner talaga 'yun eh… Okay lang naman sa akin 'yun. Natural naman na mangyayari 'yun. First time [namin nagkita nun].”
While they no longer communicate regularly, Bautista is certain their paths will cross again because politics and the entertainment industry are closely intertwined.
Bautista, however, gave a meaningful remark when asked to comment about Aquino’s seemingly positive outlook despite their failed relationship.
“Magaan lang naman talaga ang buhay. Siguro baka marami na siyang ginagawa, iniisip, plano, maraming nanliligaw siguro. Nandiyan si Derek, ‘di ba? Nababasa ko sa dyaryo 'yun eh. Wala namang ibig sabihin 'yung sinabi ko. Pwede ko rin naman banggitin si James (Yap). Okay lang naman kami,” he said, referring to Derek Ramsay, who is now being linked to Aquino.
When asked to comment on Aquino’s supposed statement that he was a huge influence on her, Bautista said: “I don’t think so. In our conversations, she learned so much from Joey (Marquez). Very respectful siya kay Joey. Kay Kuya Ipe (Philip Salvador), ang laki din ng respeto niya. Of course James (Yap) was much younger than her. Pero 'yung experience niya doon, natuto siya. Siguro in every stage of her life, marami siyang natutunan. It’s not just me. Marami siyang natutunan sa mga naugnay sa buhay niya.”
Meanwhile, Aquino believes Bautista has yet to move on as he keeps on talking about their past relationship in his interviews.
Speaking on “The Buzz,” she said: “Para sa akin ganito kasimple ‘yon eh. If you still talk about it, if you still talk about a person, ang ibig sabihin nun you still care about that person ‘di ba? Pero kung hindi mo na siya pag-uusapan, hahayaan mon a lang, ibig sabihin nun nag-move on ka na.”
Unlike Bautista, Aquino was also quick to add that she is already over their failed romance.
“I’m proud to say I’ve moved on. Kasi kung anong mahalaga sa akin, 'yun ang pag-uusapan ko ngayon,” she said.
“Ako sinasabihan niyo na madaldal, walang pribado. Nanahimik na ako eh. Nag-move on na ako. Sana 'yung ibang tao kayanin din gawin yun dahil marami namang responsibilidad sa trabaho niya. Huwag na makialam sa buhay ko,” she added.
