MANILA -- In a "special" gathering on stage, Broadway star Lea Salonga performed with top singers Sarah Geronimo and Rachelle Ann Go during a recent concert held to benefit the victims of the recent floods that hit Metro Manila and surrounding provinces.
Salonga, Geronimo and Go performed the R. Kelly hit "I Believe I Can Fly" at the "Jammin' for HELP" fundraiser event held last week at Whitespace in Makati City.
A video of the performance was posted Monday on the official YouTube page of Viva Entertainment, whose talent management firm handles the careers of Geronimo and Go.
Noting it was the first time all three of them have performed together, Salonga, as seen in the video, exclaimed "that makes this special!"
While Salonga and Geronimo have collaborated numerous times as fellow coaches on ABS-CBN's "The Voice of the Philippines," Go only rarely appears alongside Kapamilya talents as she is now a contract artist of rival network GMA-7.
Go, who has identified Salonga as one of her idols, was reported to be one of the candidates for the West End revival of the hit musical "Miss Saigon."
Salonga, who portrayed the lead character Kim in the original production, has also expressed admiration for Go, saying the young singer is capable of playing the iconic role.
Also among those who performed at last Wednesday's concert, whose proceeds went to the relief efforts of the Philippine National Red Cross, were maestro Gerard Salonga, veteran singer Pilita Corrales, theater actors Cris Villonco and Jett Pangan, and Kapamilya singers Zia Quizon and Sitti.
