Darren thanks Kris for 'guardian' offer
MANILA -- "The Voice Kids" finalist Darren Espanto thanked actress-host Kris Aquino for her offer to be his guardian when the singer's father returns to their home in Canada later this week.
Espanto is staying in the Philippines to work in showbiz full-time here in his native country. However, his parents will be going back to Canada.
The young singer's mother and sister have already returned to Canada, while his father, Lyndon, is set to fly back on Thursday.
However, most of Espanto's relatives are here in the Philippines and they will be the ones looking after him while his parents are away.
"Nakakatuwa po si Ms. Kris at saka I'm so happy na sinasabi niya po 'yan," Espanto said in a chance interview with ABS-CBNNews.com on Wednesday. "Sabi po ni daddy gustong gusto po niya, very thankful po kami kay Ms. Kris po."
Asked if he is also open to idea of having Aquino as his guardian, Espanto replied: "Parang nakakahiya po, siyempre po si Ms. Kris Aquino po 'yon."
Aside from pursuing a singing career, Espanto hinted that he might also do an acting project.
"Mayroong pinag-uusapan po pero hindi pa sila confirmed po. Sa lahat nang naghihintay para magkaroon ako ng teleserye o sitcom, maghintay lang po kayo, baka mayroon po in the future po," he said.
