Lyca hits back at her critics
MANILA – More than a month since she was named the first-ever “The Voice Kids” champion, Lyca Gairanod happily shared that she is now working on her debut album, which will be released soon.
In an interview with entertainment site Push, Lyca shared one specific song which will certainly be part of her first CD.
“’Narito Ako’ kasama sa album ko talaga,” she said, referring to the her winning piece during the hit talent contest.
She also said she hopes to collaborate with belters Angeline Quinto and Regine Velasquez one day.
Meanwhile, Gairanod lashed back at her critics who say she is only good in singing Tagalog songs.
“Akala nila hindi ako nag-e-English, sinasabihan nila ako na ‘Nakakasawa naman ang Tagalog mo.’ Ayun po nagulat po sila na kumanta po ako ng English,” she explained, referring to when she sang some of Adele’s songs on air.
Rather than minding her bashers, Gairanod said she will just focus on the opportunities that have opened for her after winning “The Voice Kids.”
Just recently, Gairanod made successful acting debut with a record-breaking “Maalaala Mo Kaya” episode where she starred as herself. She also joined the primetime series “Hawak Kamay.”
“Para pong naiisip ko po ‘yung dati nung sinasabihan po ako na umalis daw po kasi madumi at saka namamasura. Ganon ganon po. Tapos ngayon po lumalapit-lapit na po sila sakin,” she said.
Aside from these projects, Gairanod said she is also excited to attend the Star Magic ball this coming weekend with the other members of "The Voice Kids" top 4 Darren Espanto, Juan Karlos Labajo and Darlene Vibares.
