MANILA, Philippines - The newest Star Magic discovery is up to the challenge of showcasing her vocal prowess.

Emmanuelle Vera, who plays the role of Diana, Sarah Geronimo's singing rival in "Idol", ABS-CBN's upcoming musical-serye, said that she wishes to make it in the showbiz industry.

The 15-year-old Fil-Am actress was cast in a few musical plays in the past like "Sound of Christmas and "My Fair Esther". She is also a musician and a songwriter.

Though she was raised in a Westernized culture, Vera remains to be conservative and simple.

"I try not to look too provocative. I am not allowing myself to [have] any kissing scenes," Vera said when she guested on "Headstart" on ANC this week.

The teen musician shared that her singing talent was discovered when she was 6.

She underwent formal singing, dancing and acting workshops in preparation for "Idol".

Emman vs. Sarah

Though they are portraying "singing rivals" in "Idol", Vera said there is no rivalry going on between her and Popstar Princess-Box Office Queen Sarah Geronimo in real life.

"Sarah is my role model since I was young," she said.

The youngster shared her experiences during her first taping with Geronimo.

"Ay, malapit na po akong mag-faint nun. 'Yun 'yung first time namin mag-shoot. Walang introduction," Vera said.

The singer also accepts the possibility that Geronimo's fans might dislike her since she plays a kontrabida role.

"Parang ayaw po nila sa akin. Ang arte daw," she added.

Vera vowed to do her best to prove that she deserves to be part of the TV series.

"Idol", the newest musical-serye of ABS-CBN starring Geronimo, Sam Milby and Coco Martin, will start airing on Monday on ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida block.
