MANILA, Philippines – Former actor and Quezon City Councilor Roderick Paulate is set to return to his office after the Court of Appeals has issued a temporary restraining order in his favor preventing the implementation of a six-month preventive suspension order.

The preventive suspension order was issued by the Office of the Ombudsman against him and another colleague, Francisco Calalay Jr., for allegedly maintaining “ghost employees” in the payroll of the local government.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Paulate said he is certain that the charges against him will soon be proven baseless as he maintained that he is an honest public servant who wouldn’t do such thing to his district.

The Quezon City councilor, however, vented his frustration with how politics works.

"Mabuti pa ang showbiz, kilala mo kalaban mo dahil harapan kayong nagbabangayan, nagsasagutan sa media; sa pulitika, 'di mo alam dahil palalim o patago kang titirahin," he said.

Paulate refused to comment if he is still planning to run in 2013.

Paulate earlier said that the allegations against him are related to his plans of running again in the elections next year. – from a report by Mario Dumaual, ABS-CBN News
