"[I prepared for the film by having] two weeks of training mostly for the moves, different fighting moves and stances, punching and drops and stuff like that," Rodriguez told ABS-CBN News in an exclusive interview.
Rodriguez is a veteran of action films, who was also a part of the blockbuster hit "The Fast and The Furious."
She said she enjoys doing fight scenes, having gotten her breakout role in "Girlfight" as a boxer.
She is also a big fan of Filipino boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao.
"You got Manny Pacquiao. He's amazing. I love him. I can't wait for him and Mayweather to go at it. I'm dying for that fight," Rodriguez said.
Rodriguez said she returned to "Resident Evil" because she enjoys working with star Milla Jovovich and her husband Paul W.S. Anderson, who also directs the "Resident Evil" films.
"It's fun because we make fun movies together," Jovovich said of working with her husband.
Even more 'Evil'
Even before "Resident Evil: Retribution" is shown, work on another sequel is not far behind.
"We make them one movie at a time. If we're passionate about doing another one, then we would do it," Anderson said.
"Resident Evil's" wildly inventive action scenes are popular with fans, and through Hollywood magic, the film's producers gave the international press the one-in-a-lifetime chance to act with the cast and be included in the exciting "Resident Evil" universe.
