MANILA – Why did actress Andi Eigenmann become emotional when her name got dragged into the breakup up Billy Crawford and Nikki Gil?
In a live interview with “The Buzz” on Sunday, Eigenmann explained her emotional outburst was because she is trying to protect her “relationship” with Jake Ejercito.
She said she wants to prove to Ejercito, who is currently studying in Europe, that she can be trusted even when he’s away.
“He’s not based here and alam ko na mayroon akong dapat patunayan sa certain people, especially sa kanya. So gusto ko namang malaman niya na kahit magkalayo kami, hindi ako gagawa ng bagay para mag-doubt siya,” she said.
Eigenmann said she does not want to destroy Ejercito’s trust as she considers him special.
“Naging sensitive po ako nung natanong sa akin kung part ako ng issue na iyon kasi sobra kong inaalagaan talaga 'yung pagtitiwala [ni Jake]. Kami ni Jake, we are friends but never ako nag-hesitate na sabihing he means a lot to me,” he said.
However, the "Galema" star clarified that she and Ejercito are not a couple.
“Para sa akin, ayaw ko naman ipilit ang sarili ko sa mga bagay na hindi talaga puwede. Maybe we are just too young. Siyempre gusto namin 'yung situation would be entirely perfect and wala kaming matatapakan or masasaktang mga tao,” she said.
Asked why they can’t be together, the actress said: “I guess for one, I’m only 23 years old and I have other responsibilities like my daughter and my work. At the same time, hindi naman siya based dito. We play it by ear, going with the flow.”
Eigenmann has weathered a lot of controversies after it was first reported that she was pregnant.
Asked how she manages to overcome all these, Eigenmann said: “I guess it’s about believing in yourself and God and trusting that everything will fall into place at the proper time. Para sa akin, basta huwag ka lang titigil na maniwala sa sarili mo.”
Eigenmann said she believes that “after every rain comes a rainbow.”
“Kahit ilang beses ka pa madapa, it’s just a test for you to become stronger. It’s just preparing you for greater things. Brighter days are yet to come so hindi ako dapat mag-give up,” she explained.
