MANILA – After earlier revealing in public on Wednesday that she and popular broadcaster Korina Sanchez were still not on speaking terms, actress-host Kris Aquino announced later in the day that the two of them have reestablished communications with each other and are now “united” again.

Kris is the youngest sister of Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III while Sanchez is Sen. Manuel “Mar” Roxas II’s fiancée. Roxas had given up his presidential bid and instead has thrown his support to Noynoy to become the standard bearer of the Liberal Party in the 2010 elections.

Knowing how “painful” it was for Roxas to withdraw from the presidential race, Kris earlier said she made the first move and reached out to the high-profile couple.

The actress-host said she texted Sanchez, her friend of 22 years, this message: “‘Hi Korina, can we love each other again?’ Sabi ko, ‘This is for ‘Noy, this is for Mar, this is for the country.’”

“It's hard when you’re not communicating. I really hope that the lines of communication will be open again,” she added.

Kris said then that she has yet to receive a text reply from Sanchez.

Later in the evening, however, in a phone interview during “TV Patrol World,” Kris shared the good news – Sanchez has replied to her text message.

“Nag-text back siya sa akin… sinabi niya pasensiya na, nagcha-charge daw siya ng cellphone niya. Pero sinabi niya, ‘Kris naman, of course we are united.’

'Like a sister'

“We love her very much. I knew she needed space… Ang laki-laki ng sakripsiyo niya alang-alang kay Mar. Alam ko rin iyong binabahagi niya sa akin na alam niya iyong pain na pinagdaanan ni Mar nang dahil sa desisyon na ito,” she said.

“The Buzz” co-host said Sanchez is like a sister to her, and she hopes to see and talk to her when her youngest son, baby James, fits his suit. Baby James is set to be Sanchez and Roxas’ ring bearer when they tie the knot on October 23.

“Lack of communication talaga ang nangyari. Inaamin ko may pagkakamali din ako. Ilang beses niya akong tinext noong nasa hospital si Mom (former president Corazon Aquino). Medyo hindi ako nagre-reply kaya humihingi ako ng paumanhin sa kanya.

“Pero puwede kong ipagmalaki sa sambayanan na nangingibabaw iyong pagkakaibigan namin,” she said.

She said she was a witness to budding romance of Sanchez and Roxas then. She also said she was the first to interview them as a couple.

“At puwede kong ipagmalaki sa lahat, ako po ang maga-anchor ng wedding coverage ni Ms. Korina Sanchez at ni Sen. Mar Roxas. I love her. Mahal ko si Korina,” she said. -With a report from Ginger Conejero, ABS-CBN News
