Kedebon reacts to bashers on 'X Factor PH'
MANILA, Philippines -- Controversial contestant Kedebon Colim addressed his bashers on social media during the Top 7 performance night of "The X Factor Philippines" on Saturday.
In the video package before he took the stage, Colim acknowledged the criticism he has received during the past couple of weeks.
"Maraming nagsasabing I'm not deserving to stay in this competition. I don't know why nandito pa rin ako," he said without losing his smile.
"Sa mga taong sumusuporta sa akin, sa mga taong hindi naniniwala, this week ipapakita ko ang X factor ko. Palagi ko naman 'yan sinasabi. Sana ma-tsambahan ko tamaan ang mga nota," he added.
Colim performed Survivor's "Eye of the Tiger" for Saturday's performance night, which had an '80s theme. He was surrounded by wushu atheletes as well as dancers, and even ended his number with the iconic "Karate Kid" poses, which drew loud applause.
"Thank you Lord. Jesus thank you," he said after his performance.
Judge Pilita Corrales couldn't help but rib the contestant about his haters.
"Kedebon, nandito ka pa rin?" she asked.
"Oo nga. Hindi na nga ako makapaniwala. Magaling talaga ang Panginoon," Colim replied from the stage.
"Ang dami mo sigurong fans ano?" the veteran singer said.
Judge Gary Valenciano also spoke about the criticism thrown at the contestant, who celebrated his birthday last Thursday, September 6.
"Ang daming nag-twi-tweet, and daming bashers. ...I want you to remember if there are 100,000 bashers, the fact that you are in 'The X Factor,' you probably have 10 times more people who love you," said Valenciano, who described Colim as "lovable."
"Ayusin mo lang 'yung mga nota here and there. But you are getting better. Ayusin mo lang para walang masabi 'yung iba," Valenciano added.
Even his mentor, Martin Nievera, made light of Colim's situation.
'For every one hater there are five lovers. Hey everybody, he's still here," he said in his introduction of Colim.
"You made it this far. Good job," he said after Colim's performance.
Despite the positive feedback, the contestant was still a favorite topic on Twitter.
"HORRIBLE. It's HORRIBLY ENTERTAINING. What a freak this Kedebon is," said @jettyfierce.
"It's not that I hate Kedebon but he's really not fit for this show... He could shine in other reality shows," said Elcid Lao.
"Trust me. I'll start watching X Factor PH after the elimination of that kid," Edwin Respicio said in a tweet to Nievera.
"Wala pa din ba EVICT vote s X Factor? Gagastos talaga ako ma-evict lang si Kedebon. Para sa ikaliligaya ng nakararami. RT if you agree," said Monty Fernandez.
But there were also some who were sympathetic to the Cebuano contestant.
"Bakit po kaya may mga ganon na tao, na kahit hindi nman nila personally kilala si Kedebon, pero ang dali nilang husgahan ito?" Rachelle Salitico asked in a tweet to Nievera.
"You don't always have to praise but 'wag naman hate," Nievera said in his reply to her.
