MANILA, Philippines – From being a YouTube sensation, the Villongco sisters have now taken a step closer to stardom as both of them joined the cast of ABS-CBN’s new hit TV musical series “Idol.”

As in the case of international teen singer Charice Pempengco, YouTube essentially became the bridge for sisters Krissy and Ericka Villongco. Using the user name 'krissysings' the two have uploaded videos of them doing covers.

“We started in YouTube and it was practically the bridge for us. And then our manager now, he told us to audition for a casting. We really didn’t know what we are gonna get into. I thought it was some musical something. It started from there,” Erika said in an interview on ANC’s "Headstart" on Friday.

That was how they were discovered to join the hit series “Idol.”

The sisters come from a musically inclined family so it is of no surprise that music is not something new to them. The two confessed they had formal musical training when they were four years old. They took piano, flute and guitar lessons during their youth.

When asked where they see themselves going with how things are currently unfolding in their lives, they disclosed it is both their dream to follow the route Pempengco took.

 “That was actually our dream,” Krissy admitted referring to how Pempengco fared.

Krissy also revealed she already met Pempengco since she was one of her contenders during the "Little Big Star" competition.

Asked if they want to do a movie in the future, both said they welcome the idea but as of now, they have to wait and see what happens.

As of the moment, they are having fun taping different scenes with their co-stars such as Sarah Geronimo and Sam Milby.

“Taping is so much fun but it is so tiring at the same time,” Krissy said.
