Aiza Seguerra defends Tito Sotto
MANILA, Philippines - Acoustic singer-actress Aiza Seguerra has come to the defense of Senator Tito Sotto after he was accused of plagiarizing parts of his speech against the Reproductive Health Bill.
"Of course he also understand the netizens why they are doing that. Pero kumbaga I just hope na we can all be objective about things. Sana lang din yung pagpuna natin huwag personal yung pagpuna. Kasi medyo nao-offend ako pati sila Tito Vic nadadamay," Seguerra said.
The singer admitted that even if she and Sotto differ about the RH Bill, she will always have respect and love for the senator whom she consider as one of her fathers in showbiz. Seguerra is a former mainstay of popular noontime show Eat Bulaga, which is hosted by Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, Joey de Leon and other comedians.
"Yung respeto ko sa kanya will never fail, kumbaga nandoon pa din yon and kumbaga ang relationship namin ay personal it's not a political relationship," Seguerra said.
25th showbiz anniv
Meanwhile, Seguerra is busy preparing and promoting her 25th anniversary concert dubbed as "Bente Singko."
Seguerra who started as a child star, admitted that she sometime feels old for being in the industry for more than two decades.
"Sometimes I feel old kapag nakakakita ako ng bago-bago pero happy pa rin more than feeling old eh masaya," she said.
As a way of saying thank you to all her supporters, Seguerra is now gearing up for her silver anniversary concert at Araneta Coliseum this September 28.
She said that aside from her closest friends, she will be joined by her mentors from show business including Sen. Sotto.
"Not just mentors but friends. Really really great friends na masasabi ko na kapag wala ang mga ito ay kulang ako," she said.
