Sad and happy Kris cries, misses mom
MANILA - Actress-TV host Kris Aquino turned emotional on September 9, the 40th day after the passing of her beloved mom, former President Corazon Aquino.
In her statement over entertainment show "SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon," with co-host Boy Abunda, Kris cried as she admitted that the 40th day after the death of her mom was most difficult for her.
"Pero sorry talaga. This day has been the hardest kasi hindi ba, sa paniniwala natin na she is in heaven talaga. I know I'm acting like a baby, pero kasi alam mo na talagang, it's just become harder," Kris said.
Aside from missing her mom so much, Kris also cried because she was happy over the outpouring of support for her family.
She said they are overjoyed by the fact that a lot of Filipinos continue to visit her mom's grave to pay their respects.
According to Kris, it was her sister Pinky who told her that many people still go to the Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque City with their offerings of candles and flowers.
"Hindi niyo lang alam how much it makes us happy. Kasi pati yong mga kandila, yong hindi mamahaling klase. Sorry, I'm not supposed to cry anymore. I'm just trying to say, thank you. Kasi lalo na para sa mga families who go to visit mom, inuuna niyo na makapag-alay sa kanya before you think of yourselves, and we just appreciate it so much," Kris said.
She added: "Sorry, sorry. It's just you have people who really go out of their way, and when Pinky told a family na 'Hindi na kayo dapat mag-abala.' They told her, 'Ito lang ang maibibigay namin sa mommy niyo eh, napakalaki ng binigay niya sa amin'."
The former president died from cardiac arrest last August 1 after battling colon cancer for over a year.
After four days of mourning, the country's first woman president and the icon of democracy was buried beside the grave of her late husband, Sen. Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr..
