MANILA, Philippines -- The stars of ABS-CBN's hit series "Princess and I," Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo, celebrated their first anniversary as love team.
The two young stars thanked their "KathNiel" fans worldwide for their support.
"Thank you very much for supporting 'Princess and I' every night. We are so grateful to everyone who love us," they said, adding that that their fans were the ones who made all their accomplishments in the past year possible.
The two began their partnership when they were paired in the hit youth-oriented show "Growing Up" in September 2011.
Bernardo and Padilla's love team became a TV sensation, which led them to a string of remarkable milestones in their respective showbiz careers, including their top-rating primetime teleserye, which has been a consistent trending topic in various social networking sites. They also performed in well-attended mall shows and have a growing number of endorsements.
The two stars admitted that they were shocked that TV viewers got hooked on their tandem.
"I really thought our love team won't work since we're both moreno. It's so unusual," Bernardo said.
"That's why it somehow became a challenge for us. That made us exert effort for the viewers to appreciate our team-up," she added.
For his part, Padilla said Bernardo is his lucky charm. “I received a lot of blessings since Kath and I were teamed-up,” said Padilla, who was recently given a platinum record award for his top-selling, self-titled debut album.
“It seemed that every great thing in my career happened because I was with Kathryn," he added.
Until now, even if their fans are clamoring for their special friendship to bloom into a real romantic relationship, the two said they will just remain as a love team.
“Let's just wait and see," Bernardo said. "I'm not allowed yet to enter into a serious relationship since we're still both young."
Currently, the two are still busy taping for "Princess and I" which air weeknights after "TV Patrol."
