'Got to Believe' drowns out new rival show
Primetime series tops worldwide trends on Twitter
"Got to Believe" maintained its wide lead in nationwide ratings on September 9, data from multinational market research group Kantar Media showed, even as GMA-7's "Aking Pa Rin Ang Bukas" aired its pilot episode during the same timeslot.
Marking its third week on air, the ABS-CBN series on Monday garnered 31.5% in national TV ratings, while its new competing program only registered 18%.
The strong viewership of "Got to Believe" on that day placed it third overall after two other ABS-CBN programs, "Juan dela Cruz" and "TV Patrol," which got 34.9% and 32.5%, respectively.
Kantar Media uses a nationwide panel size of 2,609 urban and rural homes, representing 100% of the total Philippine TV viewing population.
Since it premiered on ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida block, "Got to Believe" has also consistently dominated local trending topics on the popular micro-blogging site Twitter.
Its episode aired on Wednesday, September 11, notably generated enough buzz to claim the No. 1 spot in the worldwide trending topics with the hashtag "G2BJoyfulWednesday."
Wednesday's episode saw the continued friction between the lead characters, with Chichay (Bernardo) remaining upbeat despite the mischievous and often cold attitude of Joaquin (Padilla), whom she tends to as a maid.
Directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina, "Got to Believe" also stars Carmina Villaroel, Ian Veneracion, Manilyn Reynes and Benjie Paras.
