MANILA – Jake Cuenca said he and Sam Milby remain good friends despite their unspoken “competition” to win Jessy Mendiola’s heart.
In an interview with “The Buzz” on Sunday, Cuenca said it just so happened that he and Milby have different styles when wooing a woman.
“Iba-ibang manligaw ang mga lalaki. Hindi ko rin naman masisisi si Sam na nanliligaw siya kay Jessy kasi kung sa ‘Maria Mercedes’ nga na show, pinag-aagawan siya ng mga lalaki. Wala namang pinagkaiba eh. Jessy is Maria Mercedes and wala akong maisip na lalaki na hindi magkakagusto sa kanya ngayon,” she said.
While Milby announced on national television that he intends to court the actress, Cuenca, for his part, said he chooses to keep his personal life private.
“No offense meant to Sam, he’s my friend. But iba lang talaga ako manligaw. When it comes to my personal life, I want to keep that to myself. I like building a world na kaming dalawa lang nung nililigawan ko or nung girlfriend ko,” he said.
Asked if he also considers Mendiola special, Cuenca said: “Super. Para sa akin, Jessy is one of the prettiest girls in showbiz. Nasa wish list ko talaga to work with her and salamat sa ABS-CBN na naka-work ko si Jessy.”
“Sobrang confident ko bilang lalaki pero pagdating kay Jessy, natotorpe talaga ako. For the first time sa buong buhay ko, ngayon pa,” he added.
Past with Melissa
Meanwhile, Cuenca also addressed controversies surrounding his past relationship with actress Melissa Ricks.
“Wala naman akong sinabi talaga na may aayusin ako with Mel. Although for me, kung meron man kaming aayusin, mas okay na kaming dalawa lang ang mag-usap. Mas madali kasi pareho kaming Star Magic so maaayos naman na makakapag-usap kami na kaming dalawa lang para maayos na once and for all,” he said.
Cuenca said he has yet to talk to Ricks privately following their break up in 2011.
“Never pa kaming nag-usap na privately. Nung naghiwalay kami, naghiwalay kami. May closure there. Kung meron ding makakapag-ayos ng kung ano man ang problema namin, oras lang 'yun. Time heals all wounds,” he said.
