MANILA - Star for All Seasons and current Batangas Governor Vilma Santos-Recto on Wednesday said she will not run in next year's vice presidential race.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Santos said that she's not ready to become the next vice president of the country and her focus is still her province.

"Alam niyo sa totoo lang labas ng labas sa diaryo pero wala pa namang pormal na ako ay kinausap or sinabihan na they wanted me to run as vice president. It's all in the newspapers, it's all in the news, pero wala namang lumalapit. Pero if you will really ask me I'm not really prepared for that. My focus is still  Batangas as governor," Santos said before she left for US to attend the international screenings of her latest film under Star Cinema "In My Life."

The actress-politician said that if she would still be given a chance she would still run for another term as governor come May 2010 polls. Santos said that she has still a lot of projects in store for Batangas.

"Kung mapagkakatiwalaan ulit at given a chance I will still go for governor. There's still a lot of unfinished business pa which I need to do. Naka-focus ako doon alam ko pa 'yong  magagawa ko pa sa Batangas," Santos said.

On Monday, Presidential Political Adviser Gabriel Claudio said a ticket between Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro and Santos would be a "good combination," but admitted that no talks have so far been held with Santos.
 
"No matter how you look at it naman talaga, e napaka-gandang combination talaga," he said.
 
While Teodoro is well-versed on national issues, Claudio said Santos "has exposure in local governance."

However, Claudio reiterated that the Lakas-Kampi-CMD national executive committee has already recommended Interior and Local Government Secretary Ronaldo Puno as Teodoro's running mate.

"In My Life's success"

The Star for All Seasons again expressed her gratitude to all the people who watched her comeback movie "In My Life." The movie grossed P20 million on its first day of screening on September 16.

"Alam mo pasasalamat na lang sa Diyos, sobra sobrang blessings niya kaya hindi naman ako umaabuso. Kung mayroon man akong hinihiling ay para na lang sa pamilya ko. Kaligtasan sa sakit at anumang disgrasya and to pray for my administration [as a] public servant," Santos said.

She also shared her excitement with the international screening of her first movie with son Luis and actor John Lloyd Cruz.

"Well definitely I'm all excited to see all the Filipinos there. Nandito 'yong pinanood na pelikula sa Manila so inaasahan ko na kung paano nagutushan dito sa Manila ay ganoon din nila magustuhan doon. So hindi pa man pasalamat na ako sa kanila doon," she said.

After the success of "In My Life," Santos said that she is not yet sure if she will be doing another movie soon. Santos said that she's thankful that Batangueños allowed her to do a film this year.

She also said that if her constituents would allow her, she would consider doing another project where she will portray the life of the late president Corazon Aquino.

"Ang alam ko nga si Fr. Nonie sa Batangas ay nagpapa-survey kung sino ang papayag na gumawa ako ng pelikula 'yong kay Madame Cory Aquino. Malaking karangalan definitely kung magagawa ko. Napakalaking karangalan dahil minamahal at nirerespeto ko siya. Malaking paghahanda 'yan. Hindi biro 'yan. Titignan ko din kung ako ang bagay sa role pero kung mabibigyan ng pagkakataon, why not?" Santos said.

'Luis-Angel problem’

Santos also said she does not know the current status of the relationship between her son Luis and actress Angel Aquino.

"Hindi ko pa siya natatanong. Well kung mayroon man na isa na umaasa na sana ay maging magkaibigan sila or magkabalikan sila ako na 'yon siguro," shesaid.

The governor said that she is only hoping for the best between Angel and Luis.
 
She also thanked Angel after the young actress sent her and Luis flowers for the success of "In My Life."
 
"Angel, thank you sa flowers na pinadala mo sa amin. Maraming salamat. Ina- appreciate 'yon namin ni Lucky. Mag-ingat ka and we love you," Santos ended.
