ABS-CBN wins big at 34th CMMA

MANILA -- ABS-CBN won several awards in various categories at the 34th Catholic Mass Media Awards (CMMA) held Tuesday night.

"Paying tribute to media products that enhance the total human development of the Filipino audience," the CMMA said as it recognized several Kapamilya programs during the awarding ceremony held at the Star Theater, CCP Complex in Pasay City.

ABS-CBN's flagship AM radio station DZMM won big in the Radio Category:  "Usapang Kapatid," which won Best Counseling Program; "Radyo Negosyo," Best Public Service Program; "Todo Todo Walang Preno," Best Entertainment Program; "Radyo Patrol," Best News Program; "Failon Ngayon," Best News Commentary; and "Sikap Pinoy," Best Business Commentary.

In the Music and Website Category, the Kapamilya tourism campaign "Choose Philippines" won Best Music Video for "Piliin Mo Ang Pilipinas," its theme song.

The fantasy anthology "Wansapanataym" won Best Children and Youth Program, while the educational show "Matanglawin" earned a special citation in the same category.

The weekend sitcom "Toda Max" won Best Comedy Program, while the Gerald Anderson-starrer "Budoy" took home "Best Drama Series," both in the award-giving body's TV Category.

ABS-CBN's current affairs programs were also conferred awards, namely "Patrol ng Pilipino" as Best News Magazine, and "Failon Ngayon" earned a special citation.

"TV Patrol Weekend," meanwhile, was recognized as Best News Program.

Also awarded was the DZMM TeleRadyo coverage "Pagbaha sa Bulacan" as the Best Special Event Coverage.

The Best Station ID honor was also handed to the Kapamilya network.

The Star Cinema film "Ikaw ang Pag-Ibig" was awarded Best Picture in the Film Category.

Two Kapamilya programs were also recognized as Hall of Fame awardees: the drama anthology "Maalaala Mo Kaya" for Best TV Drama Program, and DZMM's "Dr. Love" for Best Radio Counseling Program.
